What the service is

Joulyan Speech turns text into speech. You add one script tag to your website so visitors can listen to your pages, or you call the API from your own server and get an audio file back. Both doors lead to the same account and the same character count.

Your account

One account per person or per business. Do not open a second one to get the free characters twice.

Your keys belong to you and stay with you. The one exception is the website key: it is written into your public pages on purpose, so it is public by design. It only works on the domains you registered with it. Server keys and test keys are secret and must never be shared or published.

Fair use

While you use the service, these stay off limits:

• Anything illegal where you are, or where your visitors are.
• Speech made to harass, threaten, defame, or pass itself off as a real person.
• Breaking into the service, working around the limits, or loading it heavily enough to spoil it for others.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep the service up and answer quickly. We do not promise that it is never down, never slow, and never interrupted for maintenance.

Voices can be retired. When one goes, a successor answers to the old name, so pages that ask for it keep speaking instead of falling silent.

We can change how the service works as it grows. Anything that changes the money is covered below.

Money

The free plan gives 10,000 characters a month. Above that you buy credit: €30 for 1 million characters, and the credit never expires. Credit you have spent is not refunded; credit you have not spent is refunded on request within 14 days of the purchase, as set out in the refund policy. Prices can change for future purchases, never for credit you already bought.

Closing an account

We can close an account that abuses the service: illegal use, attacks on it, or repeated attempts to get around the limits. When we can, we write first and explain.

Changes to these terms

If these rules change, this page changes with them and the date at the top moves. Anything already paid for keeps the terms it was bought under.
